  • Description of the problem observed

Retesting & Regression Testing

After developers fix reported defects, every fix must be retested to confirm the issue is resolved. Equally important is regression testing — verifying that the correction hasn't introduced new bugs elsewhere in the system. A fix that creates a new defect is not a fix. Only once both retesting and regression testing pass can a defect be marked resolved.

The final step formalises the completed cycle. A closure report is submitted to relevant stakeholders and archived for future reference. It must contain:

  • Testing activities performed across all steps
  • Outcomes of each testing phase
  • Relevant quality metrics
  • Future testing recommendations
